Beside the project „Fit 4 Democracy“ ILEU e.V. and the Danube Networkers made a lot of different other projects over the last years.
Below you can find an overview of some of them. Feel free to discover our project websites.
ViMA Danube is an online platform fostering cultural exchange along the Danube. Available in 14 languages, it connects people of all ages and backgrounds, bridging Western and Southeastern Europe. ViMA enables discussions on shared interests, even without a common language, promoting communication and interaction across the region.
As part of the DANECT project, people of all ages from the Danube region connect online. Originating during the COVID-19 crisis, it continues to foster exchange. Through video meetings, participants share interests, emotions, and skills.
Building Bridges for Europe (2017–2019) developed an online toolbox with tested methods and projects to promote European awareness, critical thinking, and reduce prejudices. Designed for adult and older adult education, it offers adaptable resources for educators. Funded by Erasmus+, it was coordinated by ILEU (Ulm, Germany) and DANET partners.
Danube Excursions explores the cultural heritage of the Danube region through an interactive online game. It features multimedia content on historical sites, traditions, and local customs, offering users an engaging way to discover and learn about the area’s rich history and cultural diversity.
The project “Living Intangible Culture” seeks to build bridges between adult education organizations and learners from east and west of Europe through the uniting power of the shared European intangible cultural heritage.
In this project the citizens from 5 organisations, who already have experience with international work and of working together in the project Tastes of Danube, will create low-threshold materials in Bulgarian, Croatian, German, Romanian and Serbian.
The DENTA project (2019–2021) explored senior life across six European countries through interviews and case study videos. While not representative, they offer valuable insights, supported by historical and socioeconomic context.
The project is about finding out what kind of regional or national cultural treasures are for individual groups or individuals worth to preserve and give to younger people for the future, how they maintain the selected cultural assets, how they pass them on, what changes they have undergone in the course of history, what transformations are conceivable.
To emphasise the solidarity of the people along the Danube, the Ulm-based ‘Danube Networkers’ launched the project ‘The Wanted Danube’ in November 2013. Procedure: Through the collaborative work of people from all Danube countries, a ribbon of wool is being created, as long as the Danube, which is intended to express that this Danube community is ‘wanted’ by the participants and that it should contribute to the civilian population becoming more aware of their commonality.

ILEU e.V. is involved in joint projects with academic and civil society organisations. The core themes of our work are learning at different stages of life, social participation and intergenerational dialogue across borders. Many of our activities take place within projects that we are able to realise with national and international partners and sponsors.
The tasks and objectives of ILEU e.V. include the development and testing of innovative educational programmes for adults with a focus on virtual learning in the field of general academic continuing education.
In connection with this project, we would like to draw attention to our other participatory projects and methods.
