03.02.26, 6pm (CET): Online Lecture “Virtual Neighborhoods Against Loneliness” with Carmen Stadelhofer
Dear colleagues and friends from the Danube Region and other European countries
We warmly invite you to our next online event in the frame of the “Fit4Democracy” project:
On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (CET) the Chairwoman of ILEU e.V. Carmen Stadelhofer will give a lecture about “Virtual Neighbourhood against loneliness”.
Neighbourhood’ as a social construct has changed a lot because of social change. Today, people often live next door to each other without knowing one another. Many people are under strong time pressure or have very different interests. Young and old people rarely meet in a natural and friendly way. Since the coronavirus pandemic, the number of people who describe themselves as lonely has increased in all age groups.
In her lecture, Carmen Stadelhofer will explore how digital media can help to strengthen social cohesion:
- at an individual level,
- at a societal level,
- in the local neighbourhood,
- in the wider community,
- and at an international level.
Active participation and good examples are very welcome.
The event will be held in English, with translation into German, Bulgarian, Romanian, Serbian and Ukranian.
