A Call for Participation from the Fit 4 Democracy Project
Some of you will certainly remember our bread connects action “Give a sign of friendship” – https://bread-connects.tastes-of-danube.eu/bakingweek/ – . For those unfamiliar with this project, our main focus was highlighting that bread is far more than just a basic food—it has long been a powerful symbol of community and sharing. This understanding had inspired us to create a space where baking bread becomes a way to overcome boundaries and foster meaningful connections among individuals. That’s how we had come up with the playful activity of baking together, which we had named “Bread connects”.
As part of our ongoing Fit 4 Democracy project, we’re launching now a similar initiative inviting European citizens to take part by printing the flyer we’ll provide and taking a photo of themselves holding it. Since nowadays it’s more important than ever to stand together to foster a sense of shared identity and solidarity, “I stand for Europe” is a simple yet powerful photo action inviting anyone who cares for unity to express their support for a united, democratic and peaceful Europe.
Who can join?
Anyone who identifies with the idea of a democratic, inclusive and peaceful Europe – regardless of nationality, age or background.
How? It’s simple.
– Print our Flyer“Stand up for Europe and Democracy” – A Sign of Unity
– Take a picture of yourself holding the flyer
– Send it to us at: democracy@ileu.net
Together we will collect as many photos as possible that will become part of a visual mosaic – symbol of democratic spirit, solidarity, and shared European values. The results will be displayed online on our websites and on Social Media as well as presented at events of our ongoing Fit 4 Democracy project.
