The Institute for Virtual and Real Learning in Adult Education Ulm (ILEU) is a non-profit organization based in Ulm, Germany, established in 2002. It promotes regional, national, and international cooperation among civil society institutions and citizens through collaborative projects in the fields of adult education and culture, with a particular focus on the Danube Region since 2008. ILEU coordinates the informal educational network “Danube-Networkers” and serves as the office for the international association „Danube-Networkers for Europe“ (DANET) e.V.
Carmen Stadelhofer is the President of ILEU e.V. From 1994 to 2012, she was the academic director and head of the Adult Education Center „ZAWiW“ at Ulm University. She is the initiator, co-founder and head of the „Danube-Networkers“ network. Since 2013 she is voluntarily serving as a head of ILEU e.V. and DANET e.V., as well as coordinating the international „Danube-Networkers“ network.
The informal international educational network “Danube-Networkers“ was founded in 2008 in Ulm as part of the International Danube Festival Ulm/Neu-Ulm 2008 in the Danube Region. It currently involves around 100 civil society institutions from the fields of education, culture, social affairs, and the environment, as well as universities and schools.
Main aim is to overcome mental and emotional barriers between Danube neighbours, as well as to foster awareness of a common, peaceful, and solidaristic Europe. Many international projects, qualifications and initiatives have been realized — until 2012 under the leadership of ZAWiW, Ulm University, and since 2013 under the guidance of ILEU e.V.
