The Goal of the Project

The project focuses on the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN) in 2015 with its Agenda 2030.

From February to July 2025, students from the cities of Ulm, Sofia, and Odesa worked in small groups to develop an “Actionbound” (digital scavenger hunt) about their city. The content focuses on places in each city that are related in some way to selected SDGs.

Each station was documented by the students with photos and text and provided with a task or puzzle for the participants in the Bound.

In parallel, there was a monthly international Zoom meeting where participants discussed their work, the selected locations, and SDGs.

To regularly exchange progress and results with the international partner groups.

This created a better understanding of the 17 SDGs and their relevance to one’s own city, and encouraged reflection on the SDGs. The project resulted in three digital Actionbounds in German, which can be used digitally or on site by school classes, groups, or individuals, including tourists, starting in July 2025.

The program concludes with a joint meeting in Ulm at the end of July.

17 Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations are a global plan to promote peace, prosperity, and environmental protection. They were adopted in 2015 by all UN member states as part of the 2030 Agenda and are set to be achieved by 2030.

The SDGs cover various areas, including poverty eradication, education, gender equality, clean water, climate action, and sustainable cities. Each goal is designed to address social, economic, and environmental challenges collectively, ensuring a sustainable future for all people and the planet.
